Werkin' on contract & schoolwork, so all of my spare time to devote to Central is null. I am currently awaiting approval for my Yahoo merchant account to kick in, then I can start "selling" one of my apps. Central rox, just low on time for the past & next couple weeks. Post about what your working on when you can, we'd love to see & read about it! Posted by: JesterXL at April 1, 2004 02:34 PMYou betcha! will be posting probably on Saturday (if things go well) or Sunday (if they don't...). Though I do have to stress "Central in Japan" :) I'm looking forward to the general reaction myself on this one. Posted by: Graeme at April 1, 2004 02:57 PM"Running low on new material"... makes it sound like stand-up. :-) Granted, Central news has been a little low recently, but the focus has been on flex lately. And the AOL SDK is *BIG* news - it's going to be in beta very soon. Things to keep in mind people: 1. Flex released with a new coding (MXML), so there will be plenty of buzz about that. Even someone learns another Colfusion trick. But Central is Flash using Actionscript (with a few additions). Not much there to explore - it's pretty much straightforward, and covered months ago. Mostly what's talked about actively are CONCEPTS - and it's hard to keep coming up with those week after week. :-) 2. As for Mike's moving on to "more flash and Flex posts", he's a "Development Relations Product Manager" which is not a Central-only position. But I can't speak for him. As for myself, here's my life in a nutshell: (1) Wife seven months pregnant, just got laid off last month; (2) Full-time job, (3) Two blogs. If Macromedia is willing to hire me, I'll blog everyday on Central... I'm also writing a Central game, which I've kept silent on until now. Maybe I should make that public? I know your observations were innocent, Graeme. I'm looking forward to hearing about "Central in Japan" as well... and I'll do my best to keep bringing in "new material". Cheers, That's cool David, no harm intended in my post and it's great to hear you've got a game going on the side there. I look forward to seeing it. I was thinking of a game too that could be run in the background and also could be run multiplayer (something that grows, or lives, or interacts with others kind of idea). That would be cool. I understand Mike is not Central centralized and that the SDK is out for AOL, that is good news in itself. I'm really wondering though when the "real" version of Central will come out. It's been in public beta for quite some time now. Congrats on the almost-new-born! My best friend just had a baby and he's exstatic about it! The only time I hear from him now though is when he's sending pics of the baby :D Posted by: Graeme at April 1, 2004 04:36 PMI have never posted much on Central even though I contracted with the team for quite some time! If anyone has questions I can always help and I am always watching flashcoders for central related questions. Anyway I am finishing up another Central app which I am not sure who and who won't get to use it so I won't comment right now. It was built entirely in AS2, thank god...its so much better to code in :) I am pretty happy with how I have begun to architect central apps (the first one I did was not my best work of art, by far) There are still some things that I have to tweak such as layout management (working with flex makes me feel like my layout logic sucks) I hope to make more central related posts soon! Posted by: Greg Burch at April 1, 2004 04:46 PMIt's all good man. :-) Posted by: David Bisset at April 1, 2004 10:56 PM |
